First things first:
There are no flat rates for interpreting and translation services.

I will provide a quote according to your personal requirements.

My rates for translation are based on the JVEG (Judicial Remuneration and Compensation Act, sections 11 and 12) regulating the remuneration of interpreters and translators in the German judicial system.

Translation

In Germany, translation assignments are usually priced on a per-line basis. The rates per line refer to standard lines (55 keystrokes including spaces) and vary according to the required language combination, specialist area, level of difficulty, intelligibility and legibility of the source text, urgency, use of technical resources (CAT software, use of translation memories) and the volume of the order.

Upon request, prices can be calculated on a different basis.

The translation of books, for instance, is best calculated on the basis of standard pages (1024 keystrokes including spaces).

If you would like me to use CAT software (e.g. Trados, SDLX, etc.), a per-word rate is advisable (also common in the US market).

Interpreting

• Hourly rates (liaison interpreting, marriage ceremonies, etc.)
• Daily rates (conference interpreting at conventions, symposia and so forth)

The daily rate includes the required preparation and research. However, travel and/or accommodation expenses may also need to be covered. In your interest, I will try to keep these expenses as low as possible. If I take the train, I will travel 2nd class; if I come by car, I will charge a flat mileage rate of € 0.30 per kilometer.
